Ruth and Dwight's Great Adventure

While staying in Fredericton NB with Carol's cousin Ruth and her husband Dwight we made a day trip to Dwight's camp (apparently we are the only guests to have requested such a trip). I was really looking forward to this day as we had not done any proper bush road cruising for over five years (too much big city living).

With great faith we followed Dwight and Ruth deep into the New Brunswick bush...

We forged great streams...........................        Portaged our canoe through the woods...

discovered a great 'balancing rock' (O.K., close inspection showed that we weren't the first)...

found Dwight's camp.................................       took the obligatory group photo...

did a bit of canoeing and made a small attempt at fishing...

and got semi-confused as to our exact location while trying out a new route home!!

All in all it was an absolutely great day and the rain even held off until just before we got back on the pavement. Logging roads are a mixed blessing. They provide interior access but do mean more people, more garbage (why is it people go to the beautiful outdoors only to throw their junk on the ground... pick it up people!) and ultimately more forest logged.
